Koopman Coaching

About my coaching

I embrace many elements in my coaching practice, but at the root of everything lies a few main ideas.

  1. Know yourself. Understanding our identities is a lot harder than many give it credit for. With the extreme pressures of our families, peer groups, & society in general it can be so hard to understand who we are outside of what others are telling us we are supposed to be. Working to understand who we are takes time, and often a helping hand along the way.

  2. Living firmly committed to our values. Most of my clients start working with little to no understanding of the values that drive them. Taking time to drink deeply of understanding our core motivations and what is most important to embrace in life is essential to being able to live authentically. Living against our values brings us pain and fatigue. Living authentically can bring about energy and joy we’ve never known before.

  3. Goals are essential for experiencing fulfillment and purpose in life. When we can develop goals that align with our identity and values, watch out! It’s hard to drop well-formulated goals that align with who we are intrinsically.

  4. Accountability is the final key. We can learn from a book, a seminar, or even YouTube, but what a coach does that nothing else can do is provide an honest mirror to help us see how we’re really doing. The legendary college football coach Nick Saban likes to say average players like to be left alone, good players want to be coached, and great players want the truth. Having a friend walk alongside you regularly to hold you accountable and provide wisdom regularly is a key to success.

This is why I coach. To help people find success in their goals, fulfillment in their relationships, & joy in their lives. Spending an hour a week with clients to help them reach these goals has been the greatest experience of my life.

About me

Born and raised in the Madison, WI area I choose to still reside in the city I love. I love to sail, go on long walks with my dog Ellie, and attend as many Badger sporting events in a year as possible.

I started mentoring middle schoolers while in high school, and just never stopped. I’ve been through a lot over the years. I was born blind and grew up with very poor eyesight which made learning using traditional methods challenging. I’ve endured a few severe injuries that I still contend with every day. And like most people, I’ve endured my fair share of heartbreak, disappointments, and failures.

In 2023 I started coming out as a trans woman. It’s a journey that I’m excited to be embracing finally after running away from it for my whole life.

My driving force to propel me in coaching is to help others learn from my experiences and embrace what good things life has to offer, even in the face of hardships. I firmly believe that we can all get to someplace meaningful and rewarding in life, but it’s hard if not impossible to do it alone. I welcome you to join me on the adventure, and let’s get there together.
